All Systems Go With Coventry Festival of Motoring

Entries for this year’s Coventry Festival of Motoring have now closed and organisers have received a bumper number of entries to take part in the two day event which takes place on 6th and 7th September. There have been over 500 entries from owners of veteran, vintage and classic cars and motorcycles. Entries have been received from across the UK and beyond so it promises to be another memorable weekend.

The Festival starts on Saturday 6th September with live entertainment, family activities and a display of some of the entrants’ cars in Millennium Place, outside the impressive frontage of Coventry Transport Museum. On Saturday evening the Lord Mayor of Coventry will host a Reception Dinner at the Museum with motoring commentator Graham Robson having a round-table discussion with Andrew Cowan on the 40th anniversary of his victory in the London-Sydney marathon, driving a Hillman Hunter. Andrew Cowan’s winning car will be on display at the Museum on Saturday 6th and at War Memorial Park on Sunday 7th. A limited number of tickets for the reception dinner are still available - please call the Museum on 024 7623 4270.

The highlight of the Festival will be on Sunday 7th September when the vehicles will take part in a 60-mile route around the region, returning to Coventry’s War Memorial Park where a packed programme of entertainment is planned to run throughout the day, including a breathtaking performance from Motostunts International.

Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, Chairman Malcolm Oliver said :

"We are delighted with the high number of entries for this year’s Festival of Motoring and we’re really looking forward to the event.”
